Nature Unleashed includes a student book, science notebook, and teacher guide to help elementary students learn about Missouri’s ponds, forests and prairies.
Nature Unleashed is the grade 3-5 level ecology unit in the Discover Nature Schools (DNS) series from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Emphasis of this unit is on student-centered and collaborative investigations of ecosystem components, cycles of matter and energy transfer, interdependent relationships, and human impacts.

This course will show you how to incorporate STEM concepts into your classroom by using hands on experiential learning techniques, going outside and discovering nature. We will be exploring learning opportunities in school yard habitats. Learn more about the Discover Nature Schools Curriculum and Grant programs. This workshop is designed for Teachers of grades 3rd through 6th levels.

Learn the basics of river kayaking! Discover types of kayaks, parts of a paddle and kayak, how to adjust the kayak for safe and effective operation, paddle strokes, river anatomy, and river safety. This workshop is to prepare teachers for the river experience on the second day of the Discovering Nature in the Ozarks workshop. This training could also prove helpful in conjunction with teaching curriculum from Nature Unleashed, Unhooked, and Unbound. As well as Discover Nature Fishing and Stream Team curriculums.

Educators will appreciate the flow of the teacher guide, and the full color student books and blank science notebooks provided for each student. Topics in nature make learning engaging and fun. Hands-on and inquiry based are the foundation blocks of the instruction; much of the class will be outside so participants should dress for the weather. Educators will need to enroll, dress for learning outdoors and bring a sack lunch.
