Nature Unleashed includes a student book, science notebook, and teacher guide to help elementary students learn about Missouri’s ponds, forests and prairies.
Learn the basics of river kayaking! Discover types of kayaks, parts of a paddle and kayak, how to adjust the kayak for safe and effective operation, paddle strokes, river anatomy, and river safety. This workshop is to prepare teachers for the river experience on the second day of the Discovering Nature in the Southeast workshop. This training could also prove helpful in conjunction with teaching curriculum from Nature Unleashed, Unhooked, and Unbound. As well as, Discover Nature Fishing and Stream Team curriculums.
Nature Unleashed is a state standard aligned program featuring Missouri's habitats, plant and animal adaptations and interactions. Educators will appreciate the flow of the teacher guide, and the full color student books and blank science notebooks provided for each student. Topics in nature make learning engaging and fun. Hands-on and inquiry based are the foundation blocks of the instruction; much of the class will be outside so participants should dress for the weather. Educators will need to enroll, dress for learning outdoors and bring a sack lunch.

This training is limited to the following counties since supplies and materials will be hand delivered to the school district/building approximately 1 week before the virtual training date. Join us for a Discover Nature Schools Teacher Workshop on the Nature Unleashed Unit. This unit is geared towards grades 3-5. We will learn how DNS can work in your classroom, do various activities from the curriculum, and explore grant opportunities from MDC. Feel free to bring lunch, all DNS materials will be provided.
