School Programs

School programs available from Missouri Department of Conservation at no cost include Discover Nature — Fishing, Discover Nature Schools, Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP), Hunter Education, and Missouri Stream Team.

Within each program, learn about the classroom resources and free professional development available to implement any of these education programs into your classroom. Discover Nature Schools

One of the best ways for students to learn about nature is to interact with the outdoors. That’s why the Missouri Department of Conservation worked with teachers and conservation educators to create a statewide conservation science education program called Discover Nature Schools (DNS).

Discover Nature — Fishing

Discover Nature — Fishing (DNF) engages students in conservation and aquatic education through classroom instruction and hands-on fishing opportunities. This program helps students gain the skills and confidence to go fishing on their own. Participants learn about aquatic ecology, fish habitat, and fish identification.

Hunter Education

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Hunter Education program is about a lot more than hunting. Elements of history, biology, ecology, ethics, outdoor survival, and, of course, hunting and firearm safety allow this course to fit nicely in many school courses.

MoNASP

The Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP) helps build stronger, more confident and accomplished kids. It's modeled on the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), which began with a simple idea — teach kids the basics of archery as a part of school curriculum.

Stream Team

The Missouri Stream Team provides educators with staff support and resources needed to incorporate water quality instruction into their curriculum, lesson plans, field labs, and assessment strategies. This program gives teachers a variety of educational resources to implement water quality and nature curriculum into their science classrooms.
