Nature Unleashed includes a student book, science notebook, and teacher guide to help elementary students learn about Missouri’s ponds, forests and prairies.
The Discover Nature School (DNS) program includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on Missouri's flora, fauna, and ecosystems. This workshop will focus on Nature Unleashed, our 3rd-5th grade unit. Nature Unleashed focuses on different Missouri ecosystems (Forest, Pond, Prairie, and your schoolyard), plant and animal adaptations, predator-prey relationships, and more. It has already been correlated to both the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards and are designed to work with teacher's needs and existing curriculums.

Check out the Missouri Department of Conservation's Grades 3-5 Discover Nature Schools Curriculum - Nature Unleashed! This training offers teachers the chance to become more familiar with the curriculum lessons, the teacher guide and the student materials. Learn teaching strategies when taking your students outside to explore the variety of Missouri's ecosystems. Plus, a non-competitive grant is available and provided through MDC to help you with classroom materials and field experiences - including transportation costs!
This workshop covers the Discover Nature Schools programs Nature Unleashed (3-4 grade), & Nature Unhooked (5-8 grade). This hands-on, inquiry-based teacher workshop will be an engaging foundation for the both Nature Unleashed & Nature Unhooked lessons. The student materials are aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. We will discover plant and animal life in Missouri’s ponds, prairies, and forests plus the local aquatic life and their importance to people and natural communities.

Nature Unleashed helps elementary students understand ecosystem connections through exploring Missouri’s ponds, forests, and prairies. Students will learn concepts like the difference between consumers and producers, the food chain, and the specializations that help animals survive in different ecosystems.
