Nature Unhooked includes a student book, science notebook, and teacher guide to help middle-school students learn about the role of water in an ecosystem.
Nature Unhooked:
The Discover Nature Schools, Nature Unhooked, is a program for 6th-8th grade teachers. This hands-on, inquiry-based teacher workshop will be an engaging foundation for the Nature Unhooked lessons. The materials are aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. We will discover the local aquatic life and their importance to people and natural communities.

This Discover Nature School (DNS) program, Nature Unhooked, is for sixth through eighth grade. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on water properties, the water cycle, Missouri's aquatic habitats, food webs, interactions, and biodiversity. It has already been correlated to both the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards and are designed to work with teacher's needs and existing curriculums. Additionally, learning outdoors improves student physical and mental health and reduces behavioral issues.

A hands-on, practically applied approach to this class will engage the participants at all levels. This course will equip educators with the resources to engage their students with exciting project-based learning. We will investigate Missouri’s stream and pond life and other aquatic ecosystem features, as well as water quality parameters.
