This unit has recently been revised to meet the Missouri Learning Standards. A hands-on, practically applied approach to this class will engage the participants at all levels. This course will equip educators with the resources to engage their students with exciting project-based learning. We will investigate Missouri’s stream and pond life and other aquatic ecosystem features, as well as water quality parameters.
Nature Unhooked is the new aquatic unit of the Discover Nature Schools program and is aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. Emphasis of this unit is on student-centered and collaborative investigations of the properties of water, water cycle, biotic energy flow, biodiversity, and human impacts on aquatic ecosystems.

The Discover Nature School (DNS) program, Nature Unhooked, is for 6th-8th grade teachers. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on water properties and Missouri ecosystems. It has already been correlated to both the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards and are designed to work with teachers' needs and existing curriculums.

Nature Unhooked:
The Discover Nature Schools, Nature Unhooked, is a program for 6th-8th grade teachers. This hands-on, inquiry-based teacher workshop will be an engaging foundation for the Nature Unhooked lessons. The materials are aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. We will discover the local aquatic life and their importance to people and natural communities.
