Nature Unfolds includes a student book titled See How the Turkey Grows, a science notebook, and teacher guide. Together they help K-2 students learn about life cycles, basic needs of plants and animals, and seasons and weather.

Nature Unfolds:

This Discover Nature School (DNS) program, Nature Unfolds, is for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on season, weather, life cycles, and parent/offspring relationships. It has already been correlated to both the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards and are designed to work with teacher's needs and existing curriculum. Additionally, learning outdoors improves student physical and mental health and reduces behavioral issues.

This is  a private training for Nature Unfolds that provides the training required for grants associated with this unit.

This workshop will prepare educators to teach the hands-on, Grade Level Expectation unit which includes a field tested teacher guide, science notebooks for each student, and classroom copies of the published book: See How the Turkey Grows. The grant funding associated with this program will provide at least one field trip and supply classroom materials to teach the unit.

This workshop will prepare teachers to teach the hands-on, MO Learning Standards based unit which includes a field tested DNS Nature Unfolds teacher guide and science notebooks for each student.  The grant funding associated with this program will provide at least one field trip and will supply classroom materials to teach the unit.  Topics covered include life cycles, plant and seed observations, weather, insects (class pets) and earth science starters. Email or call for registration and details. 

There is a big plus to naturescaping or even having a small butterfly garden around the school campus.  The youth have the opportunity to be engaged with hands-on activities, data collecting and science notebooking.  Adding attractive native plants to the school landscape will help provide valuable habitat for songbirds, butterflies, hummingbirds and vital pollinators.  We will cover the basics of naturescaping and give all the background information needed for butterfly plots, monarch conservation, hummingbird gardens ...

Unfolds workshop for Lindenwood preservice teachers in science methods class

This Discover Nature School (DNS) program, Nature Unfolds, is for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on season, weather, life cycles, and parent/offspring relationships. It has already been correlated to both the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards and are designed to work with teacher's needs and existing curriculums. Additionally, learning outdoors improves student physical and mental health and reduces behavioral issues.

This multi-day workshop will focus on Missouri's caves and karst systems, the geologic formations of these systems, the living organisms within, as well as current cave monitoring efforts. Field experiences and hands-on activitieswill be provided with discussion to classroom curriculum use and strategies. The instructors will guide participants through activities at varying grade levels and subject areas to illustrate connections to curriculum, Missouri Learning Standards, and assessment opportunities.

The Discover Nature Schools program, Nature Unfolds, is a program designed for students to learn about seasons, weather, life cycles, and parent/offspring relationships. Not only does the program meet the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Missouri Learning Standards, but there are also big benefits for students. Learning outdoors improves student physical and mental health and reduces attention-deficit problems.
