This workshop will prepare educators to teach the hands-on, Missouri Learning Standards Unit designed for grades 3-5. This place based program will provide participating educators with a field tested teacher’s guide, classroom copies of student guides as well as science notebooks. The grant funding associated with this program will provide at least one field trip and supply classroom materials to teach the unit.

This unit has recently been revised to meet the Missouri Learning Standards. A hands-on, practically applied approach to this class will engage the participants at all levels. This course will equip educators with the resources to engage their students with exciting project-based learning. We will investigate Missouri’s stream and pond life and other aquatic ecosystem features, as well as water quality parameters.

This workshop will prepare educators to teach the hands-on, Course Level Expectations-based Unit designed for high school students. This place based curriculum will provide participating teachers a field tested teacher’s guide and classroom copies of a well presented student guide and a science notebook. The grant funding associated with this program will provide at least one field trip and supplies for teaching this unit.

Nature Revealed is the newest curriculum in MDC’s Discover Nature Schools series, Nature Revealed is designed for preschool aged children. Based on the Project Construct framework, the Teacher’s Guide will be provided plus other free materials.

Hands-on and inquiry based aquatic investigation is the "hook". Discover Nature School's Nature Unhooked program is our middle school unit for teaching outdoors. This aquatics teacher course will cover a variety of engaging activities and suitable project based learning concepts for the Southwest Missouri region. All activities are aligned to the current state standards and Next Generation Science Standards. All DNS curriculum and suitable support materials will be provided to the participants. Available field experience funding to go along with the course will be covered.

This course will show you how to incorporate STEM concepts into your classroom by using hands on experiential learning techniques, going outside and discovering nature. We will be exploring learning opportunities in school yard habitats. Learn more about the Discover Nature Schools Curriculum and Grant programs. This workshop is designed for Teachers of grades 3rd through 6th levels.

This workshop is for Springfield Schools Outdoor Awareness teachers. The workshop will included fire safety training from the Springfield Fire Department and outdoor cooking procedures, methods, safety, and recipes from MDC staff. The location of the training will be at one of the SPS middle schools -TBA
