Bring hands-on fishing education to your students while gaining firsthand experience on one of Missouri’s most dynamic ecosystems.
During this professional development training, educators will be introduced to the Discover Nature Fishing curriculum and learn how to confidently teach fishing skills, aquatic stewardship, and conservation ethics to their students. Participants will explore lesson structure, teaching strategies, and ways to safely and effectively conduct fishing activities with youth while meeting Missouri Learning Standards.

During this training, educators will be guided through the Nature Unhooked curriculum for grades 6–8, gaining the knowledge and confidence to implement hands-on, inquiry-based lessons aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and NGSS. Participants will receive curriculum materials and learn how to incorporate outdoor learning, student investigations, and project-based experiences into their classrooms.
The Discover Nature Schools (DNS) program, Nature Unbound, is a curriculum of 9 lessons designed for 9th-12th grade students with engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on wildlife management, ecology, adaptations, populations, interactions, and biodiversity. The curriculum supports Missouri Learning Standards (MLS) in science, particularly life science. Summative assessments follow each unit. The lessons culminate with a performance-based assessment for which students apply all knowledge and skills learned from the curriculum to create a Natural Resource Management Plan.

This Discover Nature School (DNS) program, Nature Unfolds, is for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on season, weather, life cycles, and parent/offspring relationships. Nature Unleashed is for third through fifth grade. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on different Missouri ecosystems (Forest, Pond, Prairie, and your schoolyard), plant and animal adaptations, predator-prey relationships, and more.
This class completes the requirements to obtain the Missouri Hunter Education Instructor certification. Participants must have the Missouri student Hunter Education certification prior to instructor class.
This Missouri Hunter Education Instructor Certification workshop is open to any certified educator in Missouri who would like to teach the Hunter Education Program in public/private schools. Teachers must have the Missouri Hunter Education student certification prior to coming to the course.

This is a program for 6th-8th grade teachers. This hands-on, inquiry-based teacher workshop will be an engaging foundation for the Nature Unhooked lessons. The materials are aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. We will discover the local aquatic life and their importance to people and natural communities.
