Nature Revealed
Nature Revealed includes a teacher guide and cut-out images and puzzles to give Pre-K teachers and parents the planning tools, activities and resources to stimulate children's natural sense of wonder in nearby nature.
Ever wonder how biologists study fish, forests and wildlife? In this workshop, you’ll learn from the experts! Get immersed in real-life conservation with Conservation Educators and Resource Biologists at five sites in the St. Louis region. Collect and measure fish, track wildlife, sample and identify insects, do bird banding, assess trees to improve forest health and more. You’ll get certified in one of our free Discover Nature - Schools instructional units, which come with funding for classroom materials and field experiences.
The Discover Nature Schools (DNS) program provides high quality science units designed to meet the needs of teachers while preparing Missouri's students to become life-long conservationists through hands-on experiences in nature. During this one-day workshop, teachers will learn how to be successful with the DNS unit appropriate to their grade level (Pre-K, K-2, 3-5, 6-8 or 9-12). This workshop fulfills the training requirement for teachers to participate in the DNS Grant Program for funding exploration equipment, outdoor classroom materials, and transportation for field experiences.
MDC’s Discover Nature Schools program, Nature Revealed, is designed to introduce preschool-aged children to nature and conservation. Based on Missouri Early Learning Goals and the Project Construct framework, the Teacher’s Guide will be provided at the workshop. During the workshop we will explore the teacher's guide and work through examples of the seasonal learning experiences. Register soon for this exciting hands-on workshop!

The Missouri Department of Conservation's Discover Nature Schools (DNS) program includes engaging age appropriate curriculum that involves hands-on outdoor learning of Missouri's ecosystems.
Join us for a 2 day 3 night adventure as we explore the nocturnal world of Missouri! Participate in several surveys such as black lighting for nocturnal insects, evening owl prowl by canoe, and mist-netting for bats. Wake up your senses to this assumed quiet world and learn about oft misunderstood animals. Educators will participate in lessons that can be integrated into their own classrooms. Two hours of graduate credit are available from Lindenwood University for $150. This class will include late day starts and late evening hours. Limited seats available.

You will learn how to collect and preserve insects and will make and take home some basic insect collecting equipment. Insects are ubiquitous and provide many teachable moments – indoors and outdoors. They are a fantastic way to provide hands-on, inquiry based learning opportunities for students!
