Nature Revealed includes a teacher guide and cut-out images and puzzles to give Pre-K teachers and parents the planning tools, activities and resources to stimulate children's natural sense of wonder in nearby nature.

Ever wonder how biologists study fish, forests and wildlife? In this workshop, you’ll learn from the experts! Get immersed in real-life conservation with Conservation Educators and Resource Biologists at five sites in the St. Louis region. Collect and measure fish, track wildlife, sample and identify insects, do bird banding, assess trees to improve forest health and more. You’ll get certified in one of our free Discover Nature - Schools instructional units, which come with funding for classroom materials and field experiences.
The Discover Nature Schools (DNS) program provides high quality science units designed to meet the needs of teachers while preparing Missouri's students to become life-long conservationists through hands-on experiences in nature. During this one-day workshop, teachers will learn how to be successful with the DNS unit appropriate to their grade level (Pre-K, K-2, 3-5, 6-8 or 9-12). This workshop fulfills the training requirement for teachers to participate in the DNS grant program for funding exploration equipment, outdoor classroom materials, and transportation for field experiences.
Sodalis Nature Preserve (aka. Hannibal’s Bat Cave) is a great destination for education! The area has a fascinating history and an exciting future. Bat Census Executive Director Kirsten Alvey-Mudd will lead a hike along the 2 mile paved trail identifying educational opportunities, discussing how the bat caves were created, and why the area is important to 175,000 endangered bats. After an early lunch participants will gather in historic Downtown Hannibal to discuss the history of the preserve and future citizen science opportunities for the area.

Nature Revealed is the pre-kindergarten instructional unit in the Discover Nature Schools series. The core of Nature Revealed is a rich, diverse collection of engaging developmentally appropriate learning experiences, arranged by season, keyed to specific learning centers that help young learners discover connections between nature and everyday living. Nature Revealed contains a wealth of ideas and information to empower educators to lead nature activities with confidence, knowledge, and skill.
Nature Revealed is a comprehensive educational unit for young children featuring a collection of seasonal learning experiences designed to help learners discover the connections between nature and everyday living and to cultivate their “Sense Of Wonder” in nature around us. During this three-hour Nature Revealed workshop, educators will participate in a selection of fun and engaging activities, centered on DESE Project Construct goals and Missouri Early Learning Goals, as well as gain information and insight through discussion of select chapters and cross-referenced appendices.
