Nature Revealed includes a teacher guide and cut-out images and puzzles to give Pre-K teachers and parents the planning tools, activities and resources to stimulate children's natural sense of wonder in nearby nature.
This is a virtual professional development workshop. It consists of a 90 minute presentation to introduce important facets of the DNS Nature Revealed unit: Organization of the teacher guide including cross-referenced appendices, best practices in leading nature experiences in early childhood, connections to learning goals, seasonal arrangement of experiences, construction and use of developmentally appropriate science notebooks, and prep and use of manipulatives including puzzles and story board characters.
This Discover Nature Schools (DNS) Program, Nature Revealed, is written for preschool students. It includes engaging, hands-on outdoor learning that focuses on Missouri's flora, fauna and ecosystems. It encourages discovery and a child's natural sense of wonder. It has already been correlated to both the Missouri Project Construct and the Missouri Early Learning Goals and is designed to work with teacher's needs to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
This is the in-person, outdoor, follow-up to the Nature Revealed Hybrid teacher training workshop, virtual portion. This section of the training includes an assessment of outdoor spaces for learning experiences, how to lead outdoor experiences with confidence, discussion of specific methods to use Nature Revealed to meet the goals and objectives of the participants' early childhood centers, and presentation of the 375-page, full-color Nature Revealed instructional materials. Covid-19 safety protocols will be followed.

This workshop is designed for all teachers wanting to learn more about common insects in Missouri. This is a hands-on workshop designed to enhance educators’ skills in collecting and identifying insect with their students. If teachers are Discovery Nature certified it will complement the DNS curriculum and help you as an educator expand your insect knowledge!
Objectives / Activities of the Workshop
Teachers will learn the Outdoor Skill of cooking with Dutch Ovens. Cast Iron Dutch Ovens are a versatile tool for campfire cooking. This program will walk teachers through how to cook in a Dutch Oven on hot coals, including what supplies they will need to get started and various methods for using a Dutch Oven. Teachers will learn how to prepare and cook an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert!
