Lesson 3B Hot and Cold Changes

Teacher Note: Because this lesson takes place in the winter, if a warm day does not happen, it is suggested to place items (except the match) in an oven for 8 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. An oven is recommended as students can record temperature. Although popcorn will pop in an oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, popcorn can
be popped in a microwave. Prepare three trays of the same items. Allow students to observe a tray at room temperature. Prepare a second tray of the same items and place in freezer for 3 hours. Prepare third tray of items and place in sun to melt or in the oven.
