This multi-day workshop will focus on Missouri's caves and karst systems, the geologic formations of these systems, the living organisms within, as well as current cave monitoring efforts. Field experiences and hands-on activitieswill be provided with discussion to classroom curriculum use and strategies. The instructors will guide participants through activities at varying grade levels and subject areas to illustrate connections to curriculum, Missouri Learning Standards, and assessment opportunities.
The workshop will take place at Twin Pines Conservation Nature Center in Winona, Missouri, with field experiences to various locations within Shannon County including a Current River Float Trip to monitor smaller caves as well as a tour of Round Spring Caverns.
Participants are responsible for lodging and melas during their stay. A packing list will be sent prior to the start of the workshop.

Workshop expectations include submission of a caves/karst-based lesson and/or unit due July 25, and a completed science notebook and Review Question Packet at the conclusion of the workshop.
