Nature Unhooked

Nature Unhooked is the middle school aquatic unit of the Discover Nature Schools program.  It is aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. Nature Unhooked is student-centered and has collaborative investigations on the properties of water, water cycle, biotic energy flow, biodiversity, and human impacts on aquatic ecosystems. A Project Based Learning component is also included in this unit.

This workshop will cover lessons and activities from the unit as well as an outdoor, experiential approach to student learning (expecting chilly weather so dress appropriately for going outdoors to do field activities). All materials will be provided; but attendees will be asked to bring a sack lunch and dress appropriately for learning outdoors (bring muck boots to do macroinvertebrate sampling at a Bray CA stream site).

Participants in this workshop will become eligible to participate in the non-competitive grant program for equipment and field trips that support effective implementation of the unit provided your school is list by DESE.

Park in the lower parking lot and walk to the house by the lake. Enter the lower door and meeting room is on the second floor.
