Kindergarten: DNS Teacher Training, Bears Through the Season (SW MO Area)

This curriculum is just for Missouri's kindergarten students!  Educators will appreciate this curriculum being STEM focused and aligned to the Missouri Learning Standards(MLS)and Next Generation Science Standards(NGSS) including Life Science, Engineering and Technology.

The Bears Through The Season curriculum engages the young scientists with 4 seasonal units and 23 lessons.  All lessons are wrapped under the anchoring phenomena of Missouri Black Bears and their habitat.  The activities utilize the 5E instruction model beginning with Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate and tie Missouri-focused phenomena and investigative questions such as "How do bears get their food using pushes and pulls?".

The educator training introduces teachers to the free student guide, the teacher's instruction materials as well as the MDC Teacher Portal.

Annual travel reimbursement grants up to $7/student for associate field experience, covering transportation costs will be explained for interested schools.
