This is a session which will be presented at the upcoming Science Teachers of Missouri (STOM) Conference.
Bring science to life with the NEW Discover Nature Schools Kindergarten, First and Second Grade Curricula! Fully aligned to ALL NGSS and MLS, students make hands-on connections to science concepts like interdependent relationships in ecosystems and weather and climate (K), waves: light and sound and structure, function, and information processing (1), and earth's systems: processes that shape the earth and structure and properties of matter (2). All K-2 students practice the Engineering Design Process whether by building a model of seed based on its characteristic dispersal method (2), designing, and building a bird feeder that will achieve the greatest number of bird visits (1), or designing a model of a bear den and testing the strengths and weaknesses against the elements (K). Kindergarten, First and Second Grade teachers will receive a free teacher and student guide and put their own science and engineering practices to the test - all while connecting science to their Missouri schoolyard!
