Nature Revealed

Sodalis Nature Preserve (aka. Hannibal’s Bat Cave) is a great destination for education! The area has a fascinating history and an exciting future. Bat Census Executive Director Kirsten Alvey-Mudd will lead a hike along the 2 mile paved trail identifying educational opportunities, discussing how the bat caves were created, and why the area is important to 175,000 endangered bats. After an early lunch participants will gather in historic Downtown Hannibal to discuss the history of the preserve and future citizen science opportunities for the area. Discover ways to engage students in local Science Inquiry, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress to be outside in the morning. We will be hiking the Sodalis Nature Trail. Bring hat, water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray.

Workshop is free of charge but reservations are a must. Space is limited. To Register contact Kathi Moore, Conservation Education Consultant at 573-248-2530, or email at kathi.moore@mdc.mo.gov
