Hunter Education

This workshop is to train and certify Missouri teachers who want to teach the Hunter Education (HED) Course in their classrooms. This training is open to schoolteachers who teach in Barry, Christian, Stone, Taney, and Webster Counties. Missouri teachers from other counties may attend but must contact the Conservation Educator for their county and receive approval and/or complete an interview prior to the training. Find your local Conservation Educator here: Local MDC Contacts | Missouri Department of Conservation

Candidates must have successfully completed Missouri Hunter Education as a student prior to the instructor training. If you need to take HED or look up your HED number, visit MDC’s Hunter Education page Here: Hunter Education | Missouri Department of Conservation.

All Hunter Education Instructors in Missouri are staff volunteers with MDC and must submit a Volunteer Application and Background Check form. These documents may be obtained from and submitted to your local Conservation Educator. Volunteer instructors must also complete an interview prior to attending the training. If you teach in one of the counties listed above, email Ginger.Miller@mdc.mo.gov for more information and to complete your application.

All Missouri HED Instructors are required to sign work agreements each year and report time worked on the HED Program within 30 days.

Thank you for your interest in Missouri Hunter Education.
