Cape Woods Conservation Area is a small bottomland forest tract and an intensely visited urban wild acres site. The Cape La Croix Hiking/Biking Trail passes through the area providing a pleasant opportunity for joggers, afternoon hikers, and bicyclists. A trailhead is located in close proximity to the parking and restroom facilities on the area. The trail traverses level terrain with two bridges spanning Cape La Croix Creek.

In Cape Girardeau, at the intersection of Kingshighway (Business 55/61/34) and Mt. Auburn Road, take Mt. Auburn Road south to the area entrance. The area can also be accessed from the Osage Park and Community Center on Kingshighway and via the Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail.
